Workouts from the Road (Part 1 of 2)
I have a pretty good balance with feeling like I “have” to workout. I’m ok with rest days, and I know that our bodies need rest to grow. That being said, working out is how I start my day. It’s my me-time. It’s the way that I’ve woken up, de-stressed, and gotten focused every morning for about 7 years now. I wanted to feel good on my trip, so I knew a month of not working out wasn’t an option. I’ve worked too hard to take that long of a break. Sure, I walked for miles every day and did plenty of other physical activities, but I needed to work out at my usual intensity.
In some cities I was able to find free trials at gyms, so I went in and set up a quick and intense circuit that didn’t detract from my travels. In others, I took my workouts to the park. I love my barbells, but theres an endless list of bodyweight exercises that you can do if you don’t have any equipment. Working out outside also gave me a chance to see another side of the places that I visited. “No excuses” might sounds cliche, but it’s true!
